The Story Behind My Name and Writing for Dusk Diaries

Hi, I’m Fransiska Karunia Larasati—though most people call me Fransiska. My name has a special story behind it. I was born on October 4th, the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi, which inspired my parents to choose "Fransiska." "Karunia" means "blessing" in Bahasa Indonesia, as I was the daughter my dad had always wished for. Lastly, "Larasati" is derived from a goddess in the Majapahit era, symbolizing harmony and grace—qualities my parents hoped I would embody.
Growing up, my dad’s love for literature had a big influence on me. He was a teacher who studied and taught literature, collected novels, and filled our home with books. Naturally, his passion rubbed off on me. From a young age, I was drawn to words and poems, often jotting down my thoughts, ideas, and plans in small notebooks or even my iPhone Notes. Writing became my way of expressing myself and capturing meaningful moments.
As I moved through life—studying, working in hospitality, and exploring new fields like media and communication—I began to see that my scattered notes and random thoughts were more than just words. They captured my growth, reflections, and dreams. When my last work contract ended, I decided to take a leap of faith and start this blog. Unexpectedly, during a vacation, I found a way to work remotely, and now this blog also serves as my portfolio.
This blog is my personal space to express my thoughts, organize my ideas, and share my stories. It’s not perfect, and I’m still figuring out how to make it accessible to others, but at least I’ve started!
